Victoria Waits

Ok so I will write this in relation to the games when I can, but it will be mainly be based around her age, she is one year younger than Phoenix and Miles during the first game: Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney.
Victoria is a young idealist who dreams of being a defense attorney like her late mother, Vanessa was. After Victoria’s graduation from Harvard law at 21 we met her on her way back to Japanifornia. She has high hopes, but she seems to be blacklisted by every attorney except Marvin Grossberg and Miles Edgeworth. Grossberg just wants to see Victoria because he used to mentor her Mother, Vanessa, and he isn’t looking to take on a junior lawyer. As much as Victoria’s heart is in defense, she has no other choice but to work for Miles as a junior prosecutor, because they know each other.
During the first game/year we piece together Victoria’s past. She previously worked as a law clerk/secretary for Manfred Von Karma. As hard as she worked it never seemed to be good enough. Over the year Manfred convinced her that she was ignorant. He lorded her girlish crush on Miles Edgeworth over her. He insinuated that he could in fact be her father. The only good thing was Manfred’s bodyguard Kate Purloin (OC). Kate is older, chaotic, and doesn’t treat Victoria like she is stupid, and Kate starts to almost unknowingly mentor Victoria.
When Kate disappears and strange X-rays pop up on Victoria’s desk she decides her time at the office has come to an end and quits to go to Ivy University after a run-in with Dahlia Hawthorne she meets Larry Butz another person who doesn’t treat her like she’s stupid. With his help she applies for Harvard and gets accepted. The two keep up a casual friendship over email.
There are 3 cases that Miles and Victoria go through together before the events of the first game. All murders, the only purpose they serve is to show the both of them in action together and for Victoria to meet Sera Tonnin(OC, but her main purpose is to say what everyone is thinking and she doesn’t really have a separate storyline, so she will not be included in this project). Sera is the one who leads Victoria to the conclusion she never stopped having a crush on Edgeworth and she really needs closure on her feelings to be able to move on.
After Redd White case when emotions are running high after Miles’ first loss, they end up sleeping together. They agree to never let it happen again because Victoria is only one high profile case away from becoming an intermediate lawyer. Also, feelings are hard for the both of them.
During the lead up to the Dee Vasquez case Victoria is coming onto her own, forming important friendships such as her status of Detective Gumshoes younger sister, her occasional conversations with Marvin Grossberg, and her now face to face interactions with Larry Butz. This is when Miles starts to realise that she won’t stick around forever, and she is no longer the blushing mess at his adoptive Father’s office. After the Dee Vasquez case Victoria makes her feelings clear and they sleep together again but only after they agree to see where exactly this could go.
They spend a few months in non-exclusive relationship and manage to keep things fairly professional at work. When DL-6 finally rolls around everything becomes crazy yet again. Victoria accompanies Phoenix and Maya investigating after meeting them at the detention centre but during the first court hearing Manfred humiliates her by sharing with the entire court that she’s sleeping with Miles (Look idk how he knows that, but he does). On her way to the airport to go home she swings by the precinct to return some case files to find Kate Purloin. Kate reveals that she was the one who put the X-rays on Victoria’s desk. Kate doesn’t know what they are just that she found them in Von Karma’s safe and her disappearance was her joining a gang. Detective Gumshoe is helping Kate get into the Witness Protection Program after snitching on the gang.
Victoria spends a night at home where her Grandma gives her some advice that Miles doesn’t need a girlfriend right now, he needs a defendant. Armed with her Mother’s old necklace and the X-rays, Victoria flies back to Japanifornia and enters the courtroom at the last possible moment to put the final nail in the coffin: The X-rays of Von Karma’s shoulder where a bullet still sits. Three days later Victoria gets a call from jail Kate has been sent to jail for grand larceny.
Victoria can’t do much as she’s an intermediate prosecutor, but she feeds important information to defense Joshua Hardin (OC, sort of like the Winston Payne of Defense and the brother of an important OC) such as a cell phone call where Gant offers her immunity if she becomes an informant and goes along to the robbery but because It’s two dumb lawyers neither indict Gant but Kate is off the hook and unfortunately Victoria and Kate have to say goodbye for the foreseeable future, if not forever as Kate enters the WPP.
During the Rise From the Ashes case (just simply because I like it). Victoria seems to really be her own person. She has a friendship with Phoenix and seems to be drifting further away from Miles who gives her no inclination of the confusion he is feeling. Victoria thinks that if Gant goes down then Kate can come back but that’s not the case.
Victoria is the one to find Miles’ note saying he chooses death and when she awakens, she has been taken to hospital by Detective Gumshoe who says that Miles is a missing person but is also an adult and there’s not much they can really do.
Two months pass when Victoria uncovers a box of things in Mile’s office that are to be delivered to Phoenix. Upon taking it over she find’s Phoenix Wright up to his neck in a case (I’m undecided I may have to make up one) she remembers how much she liked practicing law and after following Phoenix into the courtroom they strike a deal, she’ll do the whole junior lawyer bit but after she’s done she makes partner and it becomes Wright and Waits Law.
Things are bizarrely normal for a while Victoria is taking every low level case she can to get practice but when she gets home she searches databases to see if she can find anything about Miles’ car being fished out of a river with his body inside.
When Maya and Pearl come back Victoria takes up the job of low-key caretaker for the two girls. Kate also comes back after the Wellington case seeing as he was the last gang member to know Kate’s name. (I want to point out here that in this universe Maggey Byrde and Dick Gumshoe are very close friends and there’s no love triangle or anything.) Around this time Phoenix admits to Victoria he may have feelings for her. Victoria hasn’t considered it so asks for time to think about it. Finally, Victoria decides that living in the past isn’t very good so if they take things slow, she would like to see what happens with Phoenix.
Around the time of Maya’s kidnapping Victoria is so stressed that as soon as she sees Miles’ she collapses, ending up in hospital with Kate protecting her from Doctor Hotti (why does that man exist?!) When Maya is back Victoria decides the best course of action would be to take a few months off but seeing as she has no way to support herself Phoenix asks her to move in. After Victoria gets herself feeling better, she jokingly calls Phoenix Feenie (unknowingly) striking a chord and he reacts badly and shuts her out.
She continues to try to fix what she did but doesn’t know how the relationship deteriorates from there until they break up. While Victoria finds her footing, Kate suggests Victoria make her own firm, but Victoria says she would be unprepared. (It is also important to note that during this time Kate and Gumshoe are living together and Kate is finalising adopting Cody Hackins.)
Victoria decides the best course of action is to go to New York to work under the tutelage of Tristan Turnball (I don’t usually include the Anime, but that case slapped! Train Zaddy Tristan Turnball). Tristan Turnball has a vested interest in Victoria because he’s obsessed with Miles Edgeworth. During this time Kate is live texting the court proceedings to Victoria. Victoria finally gets her hands on the old Dalia Hawthorne case and she then learns why Phoenix reacted so badly.
During the case that leads to The Turnabout Express case, Victoria learns of Tristan’s dirty dealings and plans to expose him. In a last-ditch attempt to get what he wants he grabs Victoria in an attempt to sexually assault her but before he can touch her she manages to escape.
When Victoria comes back to Japanifornia she is a shell of who she formerly was but after coming to terms with it all Kate sits her down and tells her that there are probably thousands of women who have been through the same thing and it’s time for Victoria to start her own firm. Kate by now has a higher rank than Gumshoe and is clashing with the commissioner because she refuses to wear the skirt uniform. So, Kate quits and her and Victoria start their own firm, (It doesn’t have a name yet but I jokingly call it bi-laws, everyone is gay.) Kate introduces Victoria to Shye Lee (OC) who is hired on as the secretary and translator as even though she is deaf she can lip read and speak 10 languages.
Soon enough Victoria is ready to work out of an actual office instead of a basement and they get funding from Stephanie Hardin (OC) who thinks the law needs a safe space for women. Victoria works mainly on getting innocent people out of jail and hardly ever even goes to a court proceedings. As the firm gets bigger, they decide to hire Franziska Von Karma, upon learning of her crush on Maya Fey, Victoria also get Maya and Pearl to come in sometimes to help with channelling. Eventually Victoria comes up with the bright idea of starting mentoring young female lawyers. She reads a file for an Adriane Tempest (oc) and wants to see them immediately much to her horror Adriane is a male, but Adriane is the most qualified, so Victoria decides to take him on as her Junior until his year is done. He manages to fit in very well and the year flies past and soon he’s out on his own. When Victoria goes to visit Adriane but she runs into homeless Phoenix. She tries to help him, but he brushes her off.
Victoria see Miles occasionally as he comes in to see Franziska a bit.
Victoria gets interviewed by a young reporter by the name Quill Driver (OC) who wants to humanise lawyers, so she sends Quill meet with Adriane. They both vibe on being poly (this is an important fact for the future), and Adriane and Quill become the newcomers to law.
Around this time Phoenix has gotten back into law but him and Victoria are yet to cross paths again, until Larry gets married, Phoenix and Victoria end up rekindling what they had together now both more mature. They both comment on Miles acting really REALLY weird around them and when Victoria finally presents all the facts, he admits to being in love with both of them at the same time. Turns out the Miles had been meeting with Quill and Adriane who being poly, have helped Miles figure out that he wants to be in a throuple. Phoenix jumps at the chance, but Victoria is more reluctant before realising that is what she wants as well.
There is a huge case in here where they end up taking down a huge crime syndicate that pulled the strings for a lot of things and the crew has been screwing things up for them but it has a lot to do with Adriane Tempest and so that’s up to my friend who owns that OC.
Before a commitment ceremony (marriage but for throuples) Pearl manages to channel Victoria’s Mother, who says she’ll watch but doesn’t want Pearl left out so Victoria won’t be able to see her. Victoria asks who her Father is. Her Mother asks if it really matters. Victoria says no but she has a right to know. Her father is my last trump card that I’m unfortunately not ready to play. I do know who he is but I’m not telling you.
Victoria just kinda continues to be a baddie with her own law firm and now her two adopted children (Trucy and you cannot convince me Kay isn’t Edgeworth’s child!) and her two super hot husbands. I, personally, could never!
Amway this was super long thank you for reading!
